The wealthy Vaughan family built their courtyard manor house in about 1450 and lived there in comfort for many generations. The gatehouse leads through to an elegant courtyard, overlooked by a balcony walkway leading from the upstairs rooms. Many original features remain and the kitchen and great hall have recently been completely refurbished to give a flavour of what life for the family and servants would have been like in the 15th century. The 15th century style garden with its arbour and fruit trees is also worthy of a visit. Regular events at Tretower Court include ‘Sunday Best’ when re-enactors invite you to experience the preparation of 17th Century Sunday lunch; check the ‘What’s On’ calendar for dates.
